Sample 2

Your local library wants to improve its services and facilities.

Write a letter to the library. In your letter you should:

  • Explain who you are.
  • Make your suggestions.
  • And explain how this would make the library better.

So let’s get to it. But before you read further, I recommend you attempt the above question without reading my response.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Anjuna, a Delhi-based software engineer. I read in the local newspaper that the Sector 41 library is preparing to update some of its features and offerings. I frequently visit the library to borrow books, and therefore, I am writing to provide some recommendations that are helpful for those who frequently visit libraries.

First, the library is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If it could go until 7 p.m., it would be beneficial specifically to employees, as the visits to the library are challenging because of its limited open time. Therefore, everyone can benefit from the increase in working hours.

Second, please install computers since it is challenging for the patrons to spend long periods of time searching for books. Adding a few laptops allows readers to quickly search for and find books online without repeatedly asking the supervisor to collect reading material.

I believe that all of the users will find the aforementioned suggestions useful. I appreciate your consideration and hope you will act quickly to incorporate these ideas.

Yours faithfully,

Anjuna Nair
